Well, hi everybody. First a little "briefing", I bought this Explorer 1998 second hand, and every time I traveled and keep the speed between 140 km/h - 160 km/h, the light of the overdrive began to blink. So, after reading many many post here, I decided to change the filter and the oil in the pan. At firts it was impossible because one of the pipes of the exhaust, the one in the pilot side, was routed in such diagonal way an so close to the trans oil pan that it was impossible to remove the pan. So it became obvious that the heat became from the pipe and was "cooking" my trans. So, after rerouting the pipe i change the filter and the oil, with Castrol Mercon V (four months ago). Now I can say that everything is ok, the trans feels very "smooth", and when I put "the pedal to the metal" the response is pretty good too. BUT ( theres always a BUT) If I on a hill, or a parking lot ramp (a very inclined one) if i stop and pretend to began to roll with a ligth touch of the accelerator, the trans slips for one or two seconds, with the logical increase of the RPM, and then engages. this happens few times since the oil change. What do you think about this guys? By the way It`s a 1998 SOHC 4x4 with 227.000 kilometers or 141.000 miles on it.
