AAMCO says it has problem inside. The transmission has viberation when the RPM drops to 2000, but I didn't reduce gas. Did you guys have similar problems before? How did you solve it? How much cost? Thanks.:exporange

yep, actually I went to AAMCO, they give me a free check and said:
1. no computer check error code
2. short delay between 2nd and 3rd gear, and something related to "reverse" something...
3. flare
4. TCC/Lockup: shatters (I don't understand this term)

What I found is:
1. some times when I step on the gas all the way down, the RPM will stay at 2000 for 2-3 seconds, and then go up to 3000. that's a apparent delay.
2. If I am driving at about 65MPH on high way, and I am holding my foot stepping on the gas, not forward, not backward, just hold it there, the RPM will drop from 3000 to 2000, and at 2000, I can feel apparent viberation down there, I guess it comes from the transmission. AAMCO also said so.

Can you help me with this problem? Thank you.

Thanks. But I still don't know what to do, I am a new driver. Can you tell me like what kind of job I should get some people to do with the problem? And about how much am I going to spend? AAMCO guys asked for $1295 to "open the transmission and check and clean". I don't know if I should spend this money. Thank you.

What you feel as vibration is likely torque convertor shudder. The first thing I would do is change the fluid - all the fluid- flush it so it is totally replaced with new... make sure they use REAL MERCON V, not Mercon III with an additive.

I am betting your shudder will go away.

Then you need to look into the 2-3 shift flare. There is so much information on here about that I won't repeat myself except to say start in the "stickies" at the top and started reading about 2-3 shift flare there Plenty of links to help you get an understanding all about it.

DO NOT PAY AAMCO $1295. Once your trannie is out that will turn into $2500.

Start with a complete fluid change and make sure it is MERCON V they use to replace the old fluid. Let us know how iit is working after that.

Thank you so much! I'll work on it!
