Dim lights? Heater blower motor won't run full speed? Engine turns over slowly when engaging the starter motor?

The lights go with the base of the music, all the lights, head lights dash lights. this only happened once and the truck turned over good but the high idle kicked in really slowly. 3000 kms ago I had a full battery service done and posts cleaned! So what do you guys think?

Ahh if you rlights dim when your palying the stereo, I;d say either your alternator is bad or you need a capacitor.

Is it off warranty already?

Last time I had one go out, the battery was weak when I started it. Then as I drove along the gauge started to drop, normally at about 13V it slowly went down and at 8V I stared to look for a place to park it. As I parked the engine slowed and died. I ended up installing a new alternator in a parking lot, luckily a parts house was within walking distance. Then I had to get a jump to start it, since it had been running on the battery and drained it.

Most parts stores can test the alternator for you (free) to see if it's putting out enough voltage, under load and not.

Try starting the truck and then unhooking the battery. If it stays running fine, then your alternator is most likely good. If it does stay running, try turning on your stereo and lights. If it doesn't die, your alternator's fine.
