I know this is lame but how do I open the airfilter box on my 98X? I bought it used, and do not have the owners maunal, and I need to blow out the ir filter after runing around is silty sand all day yesterday. I found two clips in the front and pulled up, but it didn't budge...

Two clips and pull HARD!!! That's all there was to my '98 SAOHC (same as yours)

Just those two small silver clips and pull really hard? OK just didn't want to break anything, but I'll go give it a tug right now, and Thanks!!

It's a lot easier to remove if you disconnect the box from the intake tube. Just loosen the metal band and pop it off. The box has only the two clips you found, and has plastic tabs on the outside. Pull the tube off and pop the clips. It will then just lift off.

Thanks I saw that, and have to say there's alot more to just twisting a wing nut off the top of the air filter box above the old Carb on these things.
