98 xlt
Hi, new to the forum, but thank god I found it. I am a 62 year old gearhead, I always wanted a explorer, I found a 98 xlt awd 5.0 with no motor for five hundred bucks. The problem is someone hacked the motor out it. I have no clue where and how the vacuum line go. maybe someone could help me out. my wife said are you nuts, your too old to do that! But I like working on cars, my son and I have a dragster we drag race. It has a 562 ci motor and makes 1050 h.p goes 7.2 sec at 185 mph. thats in good air at atco. why a ford? because it was cheap and I thought I needed a winter project, But not knowing where the lines and wires and anything else go maybe she's right I must be crazy. when I was a teenager cars were different. you could pull a motor out of my g.t.o in a hour. doesn't look like that now. you can't even see the motor with all the b/s on it. I've been reading some posts and you guys are really knowlegable fellows and help each other out alot. It's nice to be here. I also hope I can maybe help some else out.

Welcome denter! I doubt you're planning on re-installing a stocker 5.0L, right? So what's the big plan?! :p: 347ci?

looking for stock 5.0

yes, it would be nice to have a 347 but, a nice 302 that would bolt-up and fit properly with all the right connections would be great too. anyone know what year engines fit in a 98 without any modifications. thanks. denter

Welcome to this forum! You are never too old to do things just as long as you are in good heath. You could put your son to work as an assistant to make the job easier. He will enjoy spending time with his dad, and feel a sense of accomplishment when the job is done. Try to get him to sign up as a member on this site too. We have a lot of members with their children, step children, and spouse as active members. This is a family site for everybody!
