Guys, I blew a hard line in an emergency stop 2 weeks ago thanks to some idiot. My Explorer was bleeding fluid like you wouldn't believe. Anyway, after the repair and bleeding of the brakes the truck is back but I'm skeptical. If seems to be OK but I'm obsessing about it and swear the thing ain't right. :( :D

Can you guys tell me what a "spongy" pedal is like? I want to be sure that these guys did my truck right. While the truck was being repaired i was driving my new Mustang GT. Naturally after driving that for a while my X feels week now. Common sense is telling me it's fine but I want to be sure. Any info would be appriciated and make me fell 1000 times better.

try stepping on a thick household cleaning sponge..

to give you another perspective on it; before i had the brake fluid changed along with the rotors and pads, i could step on the brake pedal all the way down to the floor without much resistance.. now that i had everything changed and fuilds flushed i can step on the brakes and rev up the engine to almost 2500 rpm without moving and still have a firm feel on the pedal without it going down to the floor...

know those pumps you can use to fill up inflatables, the kind you step on, shoudl feel kinda like that. if anything you can bleed the brakes to make sure any air has gotten out

who did your repair??? did they bleed AND "exercise" your ABS... IF not, then it is likely you have air in your ABS module which will give you a spongy feel.

well what was said isnt too much of a spongy brakes, thats more like unadjusted rear brakes and takes a couple of pushes befor getting hard.

spongy is that your pedel just wont get stiff or you push on the pedel and it shoots back up like a spring (with truck off)

maybe find some slick roads and slam the brakes on incase their air in the abs like said above, so put it on stands and spin the tire and hit the brakes, the abs usualy kicks on. then rebleed

But if you pump the brakes 1 or 2 times and the pedel is hard then its all good, their will be a little give but that okay

Takes about 3-4 pumps to stiffen the pedal when the trucks not running. When i push on it, it's pretty stiff I doubt I could get it go go the the floor without breaking something. When I'm driving it normally, I'm convinced it has a bit more travel than I'm used too, but by no means does it get close to the floor. Just that I'm paying more attention now so I'm convincing myself something's not rigt. :(
