Is is a little domed cylinder type thing? If so, it's probably your heater control valve. Not a big deal, in fact they fail all the time.

alec... i didnt fail... my huge goofy hand smacked it and it just snapped off....

the part i need is made of plastic and has the green lines below going into it.... the part is located somewhere in the white box..... those green lines contain coolant and go into the firewall

I know you were a dufus and broke it, that it didn't fail. I was just saying it's not a biggie.

I take it that it isn't the heater control valve then?

it could have been...i dont know what it was...... my FORD yard out here said he knew what i was talking about and they break all the time and are like $70 from FORD and he wouldnt trust a used one becuse they are probably weak like mine was......

Those two lines going into the firewall are your heater hoses. One goes into the heater core the other is the outlet. I'll see if I can get a pic of mine, I have a '91 so I don't know how much of a difference there is from a '94

Well like I said, if it's a small grey/black plastic dome type thing with vacuum and coolant lines; it's most likely your heater control valve. And they're usually around $70. Get a new one.

it isng going into the firewall i need.... but the part both those lines connect to in the white box area in the pic..... there is also a vacuum sensor on it.. it looks like a junction T fitting but has multiple outlets

it isnt a plastic dome it is a fitting that ties in a bunch of differt lines... like a splice or a "T" but with more lines than 3

Yeah it's the heater control valve. The vacuum line turns it on and off, but I don't remember them costing that much.

Thats right. 94 was the first year to have one.
How do I know? Well I have an 88 BII and the hot air comes pouring through the vents on hot days, even without the vents open. So when I found out about this baby I installed one on my 4.0L bII.
The part in question is in fact a heater control valve. Basically when you turn your heater towards the hot side (Sends vacuum to the switch) of the guage it opens and allows hot coolant to flow into the heater core. With the heat control switch in the cool position is bypasses the heater core and no hot fluid makes its way in there. This way the hot summer air doesnt get heated up even more on it's way through the heater box.

Dont go to Ford. I broke the one I snagged at a junk yard and found the smae part at Pep Boys for $17.

Good luck.....Why are they weak brittle plastic? Who knows but they are easy to break so be careful.
I have about 4 of them now, everytime I see one in the junk yard I grab it. FYI: similar vavles come on all sorts of vehicles, Dodge vans have them all over the place!!!

pep boys for $17 bucks!!! SWEET!!!! what is it called exactly? A Heater Control Valve?

Thats what I called it, a heatyer core bypass valve, Heater vacuum control valve, heater control vavle, whatever! Just have them bring up boxes until you see the right one.
Also you can ask for any 95+ Explorer, it might help, Pep Boys computers suck, so the 94 might not show up since Ford only started using them in mid 94....(have seen 94's w/o this valve....maybe A/C trucks only? who knows....

my truck was built in december of 93

okay so in November of 93 maybe they didnt have them :)

A bronco II with a 4.0!? I cant imagine that its factory.

On my 91 when I put the temp guage on hot, hot air comes out, when I put it on cold, cold air comes out and yes that is with the fan switch off. So I think that all the x's have them not just 94 and above.
