I stripped the treads out of the head trying to replace the back passenger side spark plug. Now Im in the process of pulling the head off to have an insert installed. I've gotten everything off except the ohc chain on the back. How do I safely remove/reinstall this chain so I can get the head off?

I haven't done it but I was under the impression that you need to remove the engine to change the rear chain/cassette if it's a SOHC. Search it.

Removing the head

It is not necessary to pull the engine in order to remove the head. The head can be removed with the camshaft, rocker arms and lash adjusters in place. However, since you will have to disconnect the camshaft sprocket retaining bolt the camshaft will have to be retimed. Do you have access to the OTC-6488 timing tool kit?

Position the engine with piston #1 at TDC on the compression stroke.
Loosen (clockwise) camshaft sprocket retaining bolt with special offset tool while using camshaft sprocket holding tool or keeping crankshaft from rotating by holding balancer retaining bolt.
Remove the hydraulic tensioner to release the tension on the chain.
Remove the torx head bolt that secures the upper section of the guide assembly.
Remove the camshaft sprocket retaining bolt while retaining chain on camshaft sprocket.
Wrap large rubber band around chain at base of sprocket to retain it.
Loosen head bolts in sequence 1/4th turn at a time (two 8mm external torx & eight 12 mm internal torx bolts).
It may take two persons to remove the head. One person to slip the chain off the sprocket and keep the chain from dropping as the other person lifts the head. I doubt the sprocket with chain will fit thru the lower opening of the head. After the head is removed, reinstall the chain on the sprocket and then the rubber band. Position the sprocket with chain to keep the chain from going slack.
