its not exactly a step by step procedure i dont know how to take off the transfer case or any of that stuff to even get to the part where he starts ya know....i couldnt look under the vehicle and tell you where it is...and will i need more fluid to put in the transmission?

The transfer case is bolted onto the 4X4 extension housing. Ratchets, wrenches, and a pry bar will separate it from the extension housing. The governor is inside of the 4X4 extension housing. You might lose a little fluid, but not too much if the vehicle is level. The driveshaft has to come out too. Make sure that you have a good floor jack.

whats the floor jack for? how do you remove driveshaft any extra info would help i want to make sure i know exactly what im doing before screwing up my only vehicle for transportation and afraid mechanic will take me for alot of money

All of your posts were moved into its own thread with a new title in the transmissions & transfer cases section. You have to support the transfer case on a floor jack before you disconnect it. As for the driveshaft, it's connected to the differential on one side, and the transfer case on the opposite side. It might be a good idea to buy a repair manual before attempting this job.

I think the BEST thing for you to do at this point, is talk to a friend, or even a friend of a friend, someone that is into vehicles.....knows how to work on them....offer to pay him/her (hey, it COULD happen!) to help YOU do the work. As in, he is there to make sure you don't do anything wrong, AND another set of hand is going to be required anyway when it comes time to drop the transfercase. One set of hands to control the descent of the jack, and another set of hands (yours) to keep it stable.

Buy a Haynes manual at your local parts store, and read through it several times with your car. Its not a terribly difficult job, but if you have no experience at all I would definitely have a friend or 2 who know what they are doing to help out. Or at least stand around and drink your beer while they make sure you do everything right.
