I need information on the transfer case motor.

Hi all...i'm new to this and glad to be a member. I'm hoping someone can help with some information about my 4x4. The auto 4x4 buttons on the dash just stopped working so i took it to ford and they said it was the transfer case motor. Now i seem to also have a shutter in the front end when i take off. is this related to the transfer case ?
