I just bought a 91 explorer 4x4 eb and I definitely need new shocks. I was wondering what kind of shocks are kick ass. I know it all depends on my budget but if its worth it ill wait and save up. How bout mostly street but with and occasional offroad hayday just to show off the 4x4 capabilities. Lets start off the cheapest to the most elaborate setup. please help me out im really interested in tricking out my sweet ride!

Do a SEARCH on Edelbrock IAS, Gabriels, Monroe,...

I did and after a month of indecisiveness I finally decided on IAS ($69.95 ea). It'll arrive this Monday and I will install it on the weekend. Can't tell you yet if all the talk how good they are is true.

we have two explorers, on my 93, i run monroe sensatracs.....never again on anuy type of truck.suv!

on our 91, we have rancho 5000s, good choise, especially for the money. when i looked at them, they were actually slightly cheaper than the sensatracs but the guy told me that since i was mostly on-road that the semnsatracs were better taht the ranchos would be really rough and that the sensatracs were still capable offroad.....i later found out that the ranchos are better all around and wish i would have gotten them.

I'm runnin' the Edelbrock IAS and they are amazing. Not to spendy either. :) :)

The best budget shock is the Gabriel VST. $15-20 each and they perform very well.

BILSTEINS ROCK

Come on guys, for on/offroad performance, gotta go with BILSTEIN shocks. About $60 each. Awesome performance!!

GET THE BEST FOR CHEAP

I HAVE ORDERED, oops caps, the Rancho RS9000x Shocks with 9way adjust and optional in car mount that lets you adjust from in the comfort of ur chair (fat ppl option)

get them for 209$$$$ at samsoffroad.com

located right here in good ol Tulsa Oklahoma

yayaya........okie....

I used Sensatracs and they rocked, specially the back ones because I took the back sway bar off and they performed like if it was still on there. I did remove them afterward for some Bilsteins, and I'm not happy with them. My Exploder rocks back and forth like a boat when I drive down the road. I think I'm gonna go with some Rancho's.

results!

well so far id have to say the rancho 9000x is winning so thier my first consideration. Whats with the options on these shocks? anyway thanks for the help guys

The Rancho's rock b/c you can tailor them to your ride. I've got 4 door leafs+AAL in the back of my light in the butt Sport, so I leave the rear shocks on 3, and then put them on 5-6 when loaded or towing. I put the fronts on 5-6 when going for good handling and 3 for nice ride. On a stock truck, you would probably run higher settings, but I've got firmer suspension on all 4 corners. Anyway, I'm a fan of em... Didn't know Sams was still running their $210 to your door deal... Thats how I got mine.

I'm running R9000s up front right now and like them very much.

Dailtone1, Since it will soon be your B-day I'll give you a gift. I pulled a set of four Gabriel Sport Riders off our 94 Sport and replaced them with Monroe Gasmatic shocks. The Gabriels looked new when I bought the truck last year, not knowing how old they were I bought the Monroe's when Sears put them on 1/2 price last month. The gabiels are stiffer and take more force to compress than the new Monroes do so I am betting they are still in good shape.

Too good to throw away but they can't stay here. So they are free to a good home if you pay the shipping.

Let me have your shipping address and happy B-day.
