Got a really great deal on a set of 5 nearly brand new 31x10.5 general grabbers, or so I thought. The rims they came on aren't quite right I guess. They're just cheap steel rims, which I'm fine with, but the problem is I guess our rims are supposed to rest directly on the hub, because they're hubcentric is what I was told when I was having the new wheels balanced. The center hole on the rims is slightly too big, so I'm trying to find a cheap set of rims, preferably through amazon that will fit properly. But I don't know what offset and back spacing I would need.

Could someone tell me the specs that I need? Or post a few rims that would work for me? Thanks.

Use the proper lug nuts and torque them correctly and you will be fine.

Here ya go. Have a read though this. We just went over all of this. Consensus is the lug isn't actually holding the wheel, the friction between the wheel and hub holds it. Lug nuts are under tension and do not get any sheer force when properly torqued.

Good stuff, guess I'm keeping them on those steel rims.

You'll be fine. The best lug to use for steel wheels is the factory Ford lugs that came on our Explorers. I use them on my steelies then pop the factory chrome center cap on the lugs. Black steel wheels and chrome centers look pretty good. They also don't fit perfectly tight against the wheels, so they shed water easily. I had 170k on those wheels on my '95 and now they're on my '99.

You really just need the offset, which if you bought 8" rims then you'd want something between -5 and -19mm. If you get 7" then look at around 20mm.
