my moms 01 GV died in the driveway..first it wouldnt start at all then when i went to leave it died when i put it in drive...got out re tightend the pos terminal and put it in neutral..the RPMS fluxed from 1k -2k and the check engine light is on..i need help on this one asap


new info..if i start it leave in in park dont hit the gas or anyhting it idles at 1k...if i hit the gas itl rev up and wont come down

wtf is wrong? if this car is dead i seriously dont know waht we are going to do...i am totaly lost as to what is going on

when the car was running i giggled the pos cable and it poped off...could that have done anything? this battery is brand since the last one(stock one died a week ago)

ok tried it again...what i did was hold a tinny bit of throttle then put it into reverse and the car did move backwards..but now it wont start like the batt is dead again

my moms car has had a TON of corrosion on the pos end of the batt..i have been told that is a grounding problem..so could this be a grounding problem??

the check engine light came on the first time..but will not come back on

could it be bad gas??

sry guys im just freaking out..becuase this is my faimlys luck just as i get a job a car dies...


i really really need some advice..i know u guys probably wont know just waht is wrong..but some ideas of things to start checking would be awesome

i know eventually ill get help on that other forum i am just going crazy waiting

Sounds like the alternator is bad. If you replaced the battery a week ago and it is dead again most likely the alternator isn't charging.

Regarding the CEL coming and the rough idle...that is normal whenever you disconnect the battery. When you reconnect it the computer has to relearn the idle so it fluctuates for a couple minutes or until you drive it a bit. This also can cause the CEL to come on occassionally.

I suggest when you replace the alternator and reconnect the battery that you file down the battery terminals and and the clamps that come of the leads to get all the corrosion off.
 






Clean the terminals. Put the battery on a charger. See if it takes a charge. If not return the battery for a new one. If it charges and you get it running, disconnect the neg terminal and if it dies you're probably looking at a bad alternator. If it stays running then it might be something else. The idle problems might be a TPS or IAC valve.
 






ok i did pull off the neg terminal on the batt while the car was on and the enigne didnt miss a beat...the bat isnt dead per say..if i fiddle with it the car will start again least id did the first 2 or 3 times..the lights are bright and everything...

the pearson at kragen( i went to price a clutch) said he thinks it sounded like a vacume problem?

also my mom drove the car all day today went 4-5 different places and she said it didnt have any trouble starting and run perfect..

as soon as i find the IAC ill check it out
 






ok the little b*tch is under the 100k warrenty so its suzukis problem now lol ill report back when i know whats wrong..still baffled as to wtf is going on since it drained the batt

edit also..my cant blame this s##t on my stereo :bounce: :burnout: :chug:
 






it was the battery ends..my rents had sears?? i think put in a new batt and cable ends..they did it the quick way and just cut the old terminals off at the flat part then put that in the new bolt on type terminal..the old termina was corored beyond reccognition
