I have a 2003 Ranger Supercab XLT 4x4. I want to lift it, but I don't want to spend $1500 for the superlift kit since its my everyday driver and I don't want to take it offroad for that reason. I was thinking of doing a 2in Torsion Bar crank with and add-a-leaf in the rear and then a 3in PA body lift and then running 33s on 15x8 rims. This seems to be the cheapest way to do it. Instead of spending $1500 for the superlift kit, I was considering buying an older Bronco where I can get an 8in lift for $1500 and using this as an offroad toy. All thoughts and oppinions welcome. Thanks

what's the problem, tt ,add a leaf and a body lift, is 5 inches of lift , and 33's should fit right on,
Ranger wheelwells are bigger than explorers, form what i have seen,

Thanks guys. I was also considering the possibility of getting prerunner fenders and just the tbar crank. Then getting either 4:10 or 4:56 gears and 35s on 15x10s. I know a few people locally who have done the body lift and tbar crank and they love it. I would like to do something different though. And do any of you guys think 35s would put stress on the engine since i have IFS, 4.0L? I was thinking as long as my gearing is right i should be fine, but a friend told me it could put stress on the engine trying to turn that big of tires.

I have 3.0 turning 35's with 3.73's granted its a manual (and i plan to hopefully regear soon) I manage ok. If you know you're planning to regear for tire changes than it is not a problem whatsoever.

i have 4:10's and a 4.0, and run a 35x12.5 on 15x10 rims with no engine problems, and i wheel my rig pretty hard at times,,

The engine would be fine. The only stress would be on the front axle.
If you didn't regear, the stress would be on the tranny.

Thanks for clearing that up. I figured itd be all gearing. Also has anyone done the torsion bar to coilover conversion? and is it worth it? Sorry about all the questions. I'm sure these same things get asked over and over again.

look down there, under my post at my links in my signature,,
i have coilovers, and it is worth all the work,,

How much of a help is it wen your wheeling? and i like that. once i get a little more money saved up that might be the first thing i do before getting a body lift. Id like to avoid the body lift, everyone i know around here has it and i want something different. For right now I'm going to crank my tbars to level out the the front end. after winter wen i start working ill have more money to play with and see what i want to do. Untill then ill just sit back and keep reading to try and learn some new things.

for wheeling it is about the same as the Tbars, except with the Tbars gone there is so much more clearance under there.
where it makes the most difference is running fast trails, and gravel roads kind of things, it is like riding on a cloud,,
