I think it's a 98 2 door
So heres the deal. One of my best friends of many years past recently and I have been fortunate enough to "inheiret" his vehicle I believe it's a 98 Explorer XLT 2 door (bear with me as I am new to the explorer scene). Now I have worked at off road shops and most recently worked at a Toyota Land Cruiser only garage for the past few years.

So here's my dream...I want to take my BEST friends explorer and make it a fully capable vehicle. Now I live high up in the rocky mountains so I would like to put a crawler twist to it seeing as mud is non-existent here. I don't know much about what brands are the best for lift kits, shocks, gears etc. for these vehicles, so this is where you come in! I want to tap into all the knowledge of you crazy EX guys. Tell me what you would do to build up one bad ass rig i wanna hear some ideas. Now I am not a rich kid so I cant spend 10g's on this so if you can give me an idea of what budget I should be working with to make an affordable yet strong truck.

Thanks for all your help and I will be sure to keep you all posted on my progress.

Hi Shradam and welcome to the forum!

Fixxer, what are you running for hieght on your lift. I see your in CO so I assume your doing a lot of technical rocks. Did you change gears, axles, t case or anything?

No, my truck is all stock except for upgraded brakes.
