In an effort to get my mountaineer under 4000lbs I've been making a few changes. One thing I would like to do is possibly put in a bench seat up front, which by my guess could be as much as 75lbs lighter than my current buckets and center console. I had thought about modifying my back seat to work, but then I thought a ranger bench might be a whole lot easier. So please show me what you've got, especially how it bolts up to the body. Thanks a lot.

Put in some Beards or Master Craft seats. Light weight, holds you in place much better than a bench, and comfy:D

My brother got a pair of corbeau TRS (I think) and I like them a lot, the problem is the $1000 he ended up spending on them, and at the moment I'd rather put that money into a motor.

I'd be surprised if there's any weight savings going to the 60/40 bench seat. I would think there's more metal framework weighing it down but who knows. I have buckets so I can't help you out on pics.

Courbeau's as well as other suspension seat mfg's have seats more affordable than what your bro got but it depends what you are going for. You start adding seat heaters, lumbar support, pouches, camel backs, and custom colors and it adds up quick.

My drivers seat weighs 60lbs, the passenger seat 40, and then another 30lbs for the center console. My rear seats don't weigh much over 40 together. That's why I was asking.

As far as the corbeau seats my brother got the suede covering since the cloth wasn't a very tight knit and prone to tearing he thought.

Yeah, I can see your rear seat weighing less, might look a little weird up front but I guess you never know until you try it.

I think bucket seats would weigh less than a bench seat. That being said, when I put the 2001 Ex Sport seats in my Ranger, I used my Ranger manual (non-powered) seat tracks - that saved quite a bit of weight.

Look for a slimmer bucket seat, and you could save weight and maintain comfort.

(BTW, I have a set of '93 Ranger bucket seats if you want them - no seat tracks, but the seats are fairly lightweight.)
