Hey guys, I'm sure this has been asked before but I would like to know if this will work. I have a 92 Explorer 4.0 and wanted to pull off the exhaust from the headers and build a new one. I am going to run true dual with H-pipe and 2" or 2.25" pipes. How would this work?

The fuel tank is kinda in the way on the drivers side. Besides that, true dual exhaust actually decreases power on the V-6. Your best bet for power and looks would probably be a fake dual, meaning single up until the muffler and then two tail pipes. All this is just IMO. But this is what I plan on doing to mine soon.

Yea I guess the less backpressure less power since these 245 ci engines need the backpressure to run right. Right now I have the Flowmaster system with 40 and I plan to keep it. Could I do anyhting with the cats to improve power?

It depends on whether or not you have to get emmisions tested. If you don't, or its only a visual inspection, you can get away with "hollowing out" your catalytic converter(s).

I have seen "high flow" cats for explorers, but I seriously doubt that they offer much improvement over stock.

Dont you lose low end torqueby hollowing out your cats?
