Need to know EXACT differences between 4R55E & 5R55E

I generally ship VB's USPS with insurance and delivery conformation. NEVER a problem. You can EVEN get a VB in a flat rate priority mail box!

I wouldn't have thought it would fit, then again, it's been a while since i shipped anything USPS.

As far as I'm concerned UPS is never going to get any business from me again, and If i have to order anything, It will be only from some place that offers shipping other than UPS...

P.S. Donny is sending me out another VB on Monday, it will be here on Thurs. With any luck, my truck will be back on the road by Saturday, and this whole damn nightmare will be over. Then it's off to grab a 5R in need of a rebuild, so I have a spare for the truck that I'll make as "bulletproof" as possible for when the tranny in the truck does finally die.

Update:

Well, I got my VB! (the one UPS CLAIMED was unrecoverable!) Looks like a nice build too, with the Sonnax Baseline rebuild kit (part # 37947-EZ, which includes the increased ratio boost valve), as well as the updated plate/gaskets and what appears to be a few bores sleeved (by appearance, looks like a fantastic job done). I'm not going to disassemble it, but I'll put up a few pics shortly (charging up batteries as I type this, should be good in an hour or so, so pics should be up by tomorrow).

UPS is a damn joke, after nothing but days of arguments from them, and then the claim it was gone, apparently they found it Fri. night (6:07pm if I remember correctly) but never notified Donny (the seller), or myself that they found it! I found out about it this morning by checking the tracking for the hell of it! (last i checked it had an "exception" on it, that was friday 5pm)

Apparently, (from what was explained to me, and THAT itself took about 10 calls TODAY...) some idiot (they *think* it was the driver) seen an oil stain on the box, (appeared to be leaking fluid they said, but wasn't, as it was SEALED in a thick plastic bag, and packed VERY well) and redirected it from the truck, to HAZ-MAT! F'in moron never scanned it off the truck, never notified anyone of the redirection, just tossed it on the HAZ-MAT pile and left it! After Donny initiated the claim, apparently they didn't want to fork over the money to replace it, and had the facility searched again, and sure enough, found it, and placed it in a second box, and re-scheduled it for delivery today (got it at about 5pm). I already called up Donny about it, so he wouldn't send out a second one. Now just to get it installed and see what the verdict is on the tranny (I believe it is still good, we'll see, if not, new build will have to take place, hopefully within a few weeks...)

No list of updated parts, I just visually identified most of the sonnax upgrades/fixes. However, I did get 2 pages of diagrams, torque specs, bolt locations and torque sequence from the ATSG manual.

I'm going to inspect it further tomorrow in the daylight (provided it doesn't rain as I've been told it's supposed too...) and snap some pics, I'll try to highlight the updates/fixes in the pics if possible. I'm also going to take pics of the old VB and the damage I find, should be interesting.

I'll be sending the old one back as soon as I drop it and check to see what failed. I'll re-assemble it (I don't think I'll be ripping it completely apart) and off it goes. As long as it's a complete core and nothing is missing, should be no problem.

Final update... (for now)

After dropping the pan, and installing the new VB, SAME F'IN PROBLEM!
(although I must say, engagement off all forward gears is immediate, and the shift from 1st to second is nice and firm, so from the limited drive i can take it on, the VB seems to be done well, Thanks again Donny!)

NO F'IN REVERSE, and the upshift from 2nd to 3rd results in NOTHING, tranny acts as if it is in neutral.

Apparently, the direct clutch is f'in TOAST! (since i have no reverse, and third, would explain the original problem with the shudder in third and reverse going out, all the recent repairs was just a bandaid, and prolonged it's failure. The shift flare from 2nd to 3rd is what probably ate the direct clutch, although that's probably why I had the flare in the first place.)

I HAD pictures of everything, but I no longer have the camera... Don't ask... (it was unfortunately the closest thing near me when I went into meltdown... along with some other things.)

I had planned on writing up a review of the VB, but that is now a moot point seeing I've got to replace the f'in tranny. I've calmed down enough since to update the thread, but this will be the last update this one gets, as it will be weeks, or even months, before I can even think about getting the rebuild done, IF I even keep the truck. I may just sell it as is and be done with it. Last ford I will own, that is for SURE! (I should have just dumped the damn thing earlier when the problems first started, seeing the hell I went through just to get parts, something was trying to tell me not to bother, should have trusted my first instinct and gotten rid of it then)
