So, I've spent the last month trying to figure out what was wrong, and looking for a reasonably priced transfer case for my '97 AWD. This after I can't get through inspection because my third brake light is also out, and Ford can't get the part I need to fix it.
Anyway, I finally got a great deal from ped5stang here on the forums, for a low-mileage '97 AWD transfer case. I watched the tracking info, and when it was on the truck for delivery I took today off from work to replace it. Last night, after the UPS guy drove right by my mouse, I checked the tracking information. "Damaged in shipment. Contacting Sender." Great! So, some bonehead UPS driver throws a 65 pound hunk of metal off his truck and apparently damaged it so bad that he couldn't even stop at the house to see if I wanted to inspect it.
So, now I'm back, once again, to either rebuilding it, or buying an $800 rebuilt unit because UPS manages to get it half way across the country, but the driver can't drive it to my house without messing it up. I'd like to have some words with the driver, but then I'd probably never get anything delivered to my house again.
