I need transmission/transfer case advice.

hello all i have been reading alot of things on your site and i need some help,any and all advice will be accepted,i recently bought a 97 ford explorer and thought the trans was out of it,after getting it home i found that the transfer case was not engaging (stuck in neutral)so i got a used tranfer from a junk yard and installed it in the truck,problem solved the truck goes into gear now,after putting it on the road drove it about 100 miles the over drive light started flashing and when i let off the fuel pedal it sounds like the tranfer is disengaging but when i give it fuel it stops,i got the code off the trans it was p0741,removed the pan not alot of anything in it just the normal wear i think,did see a few shiny particles in the rag when i wiped the pan out,i even took apart the valve body nothing in it either,was going to order a new valve body and wiring harness (which i found on here thanks),my question is does anyone think i have 2 different problems or will the trans problem cause them both?

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed, and moved your thread to the transmission & transfer case section. Check the bulkhead connector, and the internal wiring harness.

bb did not see anything on the wiring except that the wires seem brittle when i moved the wire from the passenger side of the vb the plastic around the wire broke,do to you i have 2 different problems or just trans causing both?

Chech the internal harness point to point with a continuity tester.

i have did that,all wires inside trans check good,0.3 ohms all wires,checked solenoids the tcc solenoid had 4.4 ohms, all others were at 29.0 ohms.
