Every now and then the the X would stall out and it especially does this when it's still cold. Also when I start it, it would go to 1500 rpms, then so down 500 or even 200 and would then go to about normal. It would even stall out every now and then when the car is first started. I figure the problem was the IAC so I took it, cleaned it with an O2 safe agent and placed it back on. Bare in mind that it has never made that imfamous houlling sound. I just did this half an hour to an hour ago too.
Now I have a few small things I wanted to get done so I needed the X. I started her up and low and behold the houlling sound is in full effect! I poped the hood while it was running so I could take a closer look. This sound by the way is unbeleiveably loud mind you. I think it was much much more louder than what most people get. (I beleive the first words that went off in my head when I took a look under the hood were "F*ck! this is too f@ck*n loud!" The next thing I did was to take off the black plastic cap. The houling went away...for the most part. It would now only howl every now and then. I tried to put the plastic cap back on , but as soon as it would get close to that small hole, it would howl like crazy. What in the hell is the problem? Is it ok to leave off this plastic cap or what? What is it for and what should I do?
