I installed the Viair 100AT today so i can deflate and inflate on the trails! i still have to order the 2.5 gallon tank to go with it but for now i just have the compressor working. i attached it to my custom tool box. I have yet to use it but will after i get the tank. Thanks to Billy for helping me try to figure out how to put a switch in. i now know how to. Here's some pictures.

looks awesome man..

I think that's the sameone i have. Does it shut off at a certain PSI? Mine doesn, but they make switches for that, i might try to find one. How did you run your switch, just tap into the power wire and leave the switch on the compressor on? Looks gave Dave.

Haha...that damn ground!!!!!! :) :p

haha yeah i know right billy!

Josh: i ran the switch so it comes on when the switch is on and off when off. i was about to ask you about the shutting off at certain PSI switch but no i don't have that. when i get the tank i probolly will get it. i can't figure out how they work though. does it screw into the tank and when it get a certain PSI it tells the compressor to turn off?

I'm not sure how it works. Obviously it has to tie into the tank or line somewhere. But i don't think the 100 series shuts off, it continuosly runs. It gets pretty warm, so be careful with it.

ok thanks. any one know where i can get a 2.5 gallon Viair air tank?

Stupid question

What is onboard air used for?

The ARB lockers sure there own.

The Rancho 9000x uses there own.

To fill up your tires, can't you just just one that plugs in when you need it?

Dont get me wrong I love the idea and want it in my truck, I'm not not finding the use.

I want the ability to air my tires up on the fly, but with out a Rockwell HUGE ARSE axle, that's going to take a while.

Hey David that looks pretty good!

You might try a hardware store or a home improvement store for your tank, maybe something like this only smaller:

That one is 11 gallons and $30 at www.harborfreight.com

Good Luck dude!

Just to add...A pressure switch which can be bought in the aftermarket just screws into a T fitting, inline with the hose in between the outlet of the compressor and the tank. Every shop air compressor has one. It turns the compressor on when the pressure is below a set point, and turns it off when the pressure reaches a set point. On many, these are two different pressures.

They are a simple SPST type switch, and should have two wires coming from it. You can wire it inline from your main switch to the pump, on the positive lead, for simple operation.

i need a tank that is 6" wide and no longer than 24" long. if someone finds one let me know or if you have one to sell to me tell me. thanks. i might have to get the pressure switch. sounds like a good idea.

looks badass

wate to i get a tank in there and have to fill up some poor jeeps tire! then it'll truely be Bad AZZ!

Dave, i got your email. I'm not sure what your tank looks like, but you have to have an inlet for the hose from the compressor, and an outlet for the hose coming out of the tank. If the tank has only one opening, then you'll have to use a T, you can get this stuff at Lowes or Home Depot in the fittings stuff.

Here is a picture of my setup. I have 2 smaller tanks that i welded togther, they are joined by fittings up top and i also have an inlet and an outlet on it.

those compresseor that plug into the cig lighter are junk, you'll be there inflating you tires for ever. a real compressor, like the Viar unit will have a lot more volume, and hold up much longer. Who say that you can't use that compressor for an ARB? Just a matter of plumbing it to a locker. I have a Thomas 26 Amp 100 psi unit, same used in real hummers, still need to install it, but plans are to have the comp. in the cab, plumb a quick disconect to the front of the truck, one into the bed, and one to the rear bumper. I'll have a, air tank, or two in the bed, with enough line to run air tools all around the truck.

Where are you planning on mounting your tank? If you don't run a spare tire underneath the rear cargo area, it would be a great place to put the tank, you just have to make sure it's up out of the way.

mine will be beside my tool box in the rear.

That looks like a pretty huge tool, box are you using it all, if not couldn't you put the tank inside the box?

yes i use it ALL! i cary a 150 piece tools set, drill, winch, recovery gear, cleaning stuff, and anything else i would ne on the trail. i made to so when i get called i can jump in the X and go and not collect gear.
