I want an MP3 HU for my 99. I would appreciate any help and advise from you folks.

What unit? Why?
Should I get a changer too?

Thanks again......

hey,
i wouldnt get a cd changer if yer getting the mp3 unit. I have one and i like it. The kenwood 8017. DOnt get the z919 because its supposed to suck nuts. Also i wouldnt get the aiwa cause i heard those suck too. You can find the kenwood for around 240. Thats a good price because some places sell it for like 360 like crutchfield. Its all in what u want to spend. My HU sounds great but i also have all kenwood in my car. Its really up to u but i would recommend the kenwood because i have it and know its good.

Check out Dead Link Removed for reviews and info of all MP3 units available today. At least I think that's all of them...

thats a real good site. They also highly recomend the kenwood

excellent, thats the most sensible thing to do

aldive, not sure if you want one that "looks stock" or not, but visteon (which is the company that makes our stereos already) had an MP3 player out that looks just like the stock deck, its called the Mach MP3. Its a bit pricy at about $350 though. They are supposed to have an MP3-compatible CD-changer out for it in a few weeks from what I hear. www.evisteon.com

buck that shiz, get the kenwood. Looks nicer and is a better HU.

Dan, calm down there tiger, Iw as meerly offering it as a different option. One of the other things to consider is when selling a vehicle an aftermarket head unit can actually lower the value of teh car, as some people would rather have your basic deck without all the different options aftermarket head units have got.

yeah, a lot of people like to keep the factory look.
not just for resale. if a thief looks inside and sees a "stock" looking system, he'll usually pass by and look for a flashy headunit.

everyone has a different sense of style, and brand preference. some like eclipse, alpine, pioneer, rockford fosgate, etc...

I can respect the fact that people may want a stock-looking HU that plays MP3s, and that's OK. Having said that...I still think the price is pretty laughable, all things considered. Basically, it's a bland-looking unit with no snazzy display and minimal features.

I still can't believe that my Dead Link Removed would cost $425 to replace! <choke>

all Ford parts will cost you more then the aftermarket oen (well, within reason), thats why Ford charges $900 for a sunroof, $600 for running boards, and $150 for a bug deflector...

all im saying is that i think that stock HU sucks. Im glad you gave your opinion. ALso it might lower the value of a car but if you keep your stock one then u can jsut install it when u decide to sell it.
i cant believe that erased my tinting post. everyone is way to uptight. some peeps needa chill.

Dan, calm down, we deleted it because you posted it to every forum. That's one of the restrictions that you agreed to follow when you registered for use of the service.

o, my bad then, just takes people a while to answer sometimes.

Whats the best... MP3 HU that is...

Ok guys, what do you think the very best MP3 HU is and why? Price is on no concern,

Thanks....

if price is no concern, check out the alpine cda-7878. list price is like $800, market price is about $600-700. it shares a lot of the same parts as alpine's flagship headunit, the f#1 status cda-7990, which is a $3000 headunit.

Definately the Alpine...from what I hear the Kenwood is a great choice too.

Steve

Partial to the Clarion decks. Just based on quality and durability. My brother has the 9000 series and I have the 8000 series...both have really powerful pre outs. Alpine is very good also, however the faces in the past havent been as flashy as the clarions. Clarion is also going up in price from what I hear, as they are making factory stereo's for Porsche....atleast I think thats who it was...
