I just did my IAC clean up today. I got symptoms of rough idle (not a perfect idle) and rumble on my air intake. On a stop light, I noticed that the idle would go up and down slightly but it's not the same as having a vacuum leak (where the idle would actually go drastically down and up) Checked for vacuum leaks but couldn't find any so the final piece of the straw was the IAC. It's running smooth now. The IAC design seems different on other model years too.

yes the '04-'05 4.6L has the IAC built into the Drive-By-Wire (DBW) throttle body (TB).

those with the integrated IAC can remove the air intake hose, spray a link free cloth (I like Scott Blue Shop towels) with TB & MAF spray cleaner, open the throttle & wipe in as far as you can. the towel will get black very quickly. change towels often.

Once no more stuff come off on the towel, lightly spray into the TB as far as the straw will safely go without getting lost.

Best is to remove the TB completely, $15 gasket is needed. do the entire unit off the truck. The TB-to-intake Elbow/adapter requires opening (2) coolant lines over by the EGR and is not a quick/simple process.
