:banghead: :banghead: Merc Mtneer, 97, AWD, 5.0. The engine has an intermittent idle on starting, but at erratic intervals. Mostly when its cold. after it warms up, (not even to operating temp), you can turn it off and re-start and it idles along perfectly. Only mod is the headers for the 5.0 and the O-2's were replaced then. Any or all help is appreciated!

pull it and check it to see if it is dirty my 96 did the same thing till i cleaned it also by applying power and a ground to it you can make sure it is functioning corectly warning DO NOT leave power applyed only a brief shot of power is needed oh yeah and watch the "valve" in the "inside" to see if it moves smoothly

:) Thanx, man. I definitely will give this a try. It will have to be tomorrow, though because daylight has left me today (it is around 9:00 here). Will give you a scream tomorrow.

  That was it! As a sidebar, I took the time to change the fuel filter, too.

Clean your MAF sensor lately? I've found that cleaning the Idle Air Control Valve is temporary and, for the cost, a replacement is much wiser also.
