ICE ICE ICE ICE !!

It does flash for only 1-2 minutes. You can always press the button and turn the temp/compass display off if you like. But no, it is not annoying, in fact I miss it sometimes. With auto climate control, it's difficult to tell if it's getting colder outside, it just cranks up the heat more inside and you don't really know it's getting that cold outside.

The Ice light probably comes on at 38 degrees to provide a safe "accuracy cushion" Ford must think the sensor is accurate to +-6 degrees. Ive thought of testing the accuracy myself, but its not a big enough deal. I would have to be really bored.
Acutally, I have a calibrated digital thermometer, in my house, and the temp from my house thermometer and the temp in my Explorer, 50 percent of the time is plus or minus 1 degree, and the other 50 percent matches it exactly! So they, (at least mine) are accurate.

Ummm..water freezes at 32 deg F/0 deg C/273Kelvins...not 38 degrees!!
Spoken like a true always warm weather Hawaiian, but in part your right, and in part...no.

In winter, (at least in the North contiguous States), the ground temperature will freeze, and if the air temp goes to say 38F, and it rains, drizzles, or whatever, being the ground temp is at or usually below freezing (32F), WILL freeze that water hitting the road, which is why Ford has the "ICE" warning display, because it very likley possible. And the others are also correct, even if the ground temp is above freezing, bridges and overpasses WILL freeze because of the windchill effect running under them. Ever heard of "black ice?" Most car manufacturers, has the same temp warning, my Cadillac will flash "Ice" at 38F, my dads Chrysler, also has the Ice warning at "38F." Must be something to that!

LOL @ VOATMJ1. Yes, it is a very nice 85 degrees today. Having lived in Texas and Arizona during winter I am very aware of "Black Ice". Could not agree with you more, wind chill will play a big part in the freezing cycle.

I think it may start to display ICE at 38 because, in many localities, temperatures can change drastically over a short distance. In many places, it is easy to take a 1-2 hour drive and have a 6 degree temp difference. So, warning you of ice before it actually reaches 32 can be a great asset.

your right about the black ice ! specially in Quebec it is very common, but I agree that this function is very nice and it has it`s purpose ! and it`s realy not anoying your don`t realy see it unless you look right at it. But it it must be nice to wake up in Hawaii and not having to see your *ice* flashing !! ahahah!
