Ideas for 1997 explorer 5.0

I have a 1997 Explorer XLT 5.0. It needs work. Off the top its going to need rear axle seal replaced, front Ball joint and control arm (problably upper and lower), exhaust,egr valve and pulley. I am hoping to keep the repairs under 2000. I see so much potential in it. Only 135K miles. I appreciate any ideas anyone has to make it really look nice.
