Identifying a donor for SAS

The smallest amount of lift you can run is 6" so that you'll clear the engine crossmember.

Hey, been thinking.. I have a two inch body lift and wonder that I could just lift that engine crossmember two inches, space the tranny up, and get more room that way. Ever been done? My steering should remain the same (extended for BL) I`d have to take the shifter extension back off of course.
Might be tricky to undo the crossmember. Fabricating spacers is no problem.

Anyone ever mount springs outside the frame on an explorer? lol, just wondering, actually I`ll search that right now!

Amazing what a good look will tell ya. The crossmember`s pretty well incorporated into the frame, you`d have to totally remake a crossmember, and the engine would be in the way. Not to mention exhaust pipe problems.
Any way would be neat.
