Idle gone crazy!

You know....I swear just before I yanked the battery cable I heard this deep voice say GET OUT!!

Ok I got it fixed yesterday at the dealer. It was a vacuum leak @ the intake manifold where the tube from the back of the EGR valve connects. $6 for the gasket but they wanted to charge me $300 because they wanted to replace it by removing the upper intake instead of pulling the EGR and tube and taking a chance in breaking the tube. I argued (and lost) until I was ford blue in the face that it should have been done when they replaced my heads so I’m searching now for some kind of contact farther up in FORD so I can recoup this money. When I got home I looked it up in my ford service manual and it says right there when they remove the intake they are to discard and replace the gasket that went bad.

I bet that dealer has lots of callbacks if they try to reuse intake manifold gaskets and EGR gaskets all of the time. Whenever I have taken apart anything on top of the engine, the gaskets are usually so baked out and brittle that they break apart and you can't reuse any of them.

Those guys are either telling the truth and they are retarded or they are lying about it to get you to pay for bad work they did. Or both?
