Fairly certain I have an idler pulley squealing, can someone confirm that these are the correct ones for top and bottom? Dayco 89006 and 89015 for idler pullies.

I've been considering a new tensioner pulley as well. I can't find what appears to be the correct arm for the 2000 - can I just get the pulley and swap that? I'm assuming I'll have to remove the arm in order to change out the pulley? Or is a new tensioner arm still available?

THE BEST online catalog out there to confirm the correct parts for your Ex is on Rock Auto .com

As a PLUS, RA's online catalog also has many pictures/views of the parts you're looking for.

Notice that there are red arrows to the right/left on each picture of a part they're selling.

Click on the arrows for different views of the part, so you can compare it to your old part, just to ensure you're hitting your goal the first time around.

And to answer your tensioner question - YES - it is possible to ONLY swap out the tensioner pulley with the internal bearing.

Unless somehow damaged by an atomic blast - the Factory Original Equipment tensioner arm should outlast the life of your Ex.

I'm on 216,000 miles on my factory tensioner arm, and I've replaced the pulley at least 5 times as part of my normal preventive maintenance.

Idler and Tensioner pulleys should be replaced at the same time - they're only $15 or so a piece...

Hope that helps -

- While replacing it I ham fisted the Tensioner Pulley Bolt on the new one using it to De-tension the Belt & wrung out the Threads on the new one - Used 3/8 Drill to make it a thru hole & Tapped to 7/16 - 14 - Much more solid feel as u can use longer Bolt - Used a little RTV as Thread sealant but IMO these should have been Loc-Tited at factory & maybe u cd use Bolt to de-tension the Belt being they didn't give 5.0 tensioner the 3/8 or 1/2 Breaker Bar hole like the far better design 4.6 Liter Tensioner has - Pix are of the old one I also fixed as spare being its Threads were 'tired' also just fm using Bolt to De Tension Belt - So 5/8 Wrench De Tensions mine now.

Do you think it makes sense to change the both pulleys as a preventive maintenance ? I was wondering to change these on mine Ex ( 95k miles on right now) but none of them seems to be going bad ... how long should these last in your opinion ? They`re both original Motorcraft`s pulleys.

@Piotr Piech

Just askin' - When you buy shoes, do you buy 1 or 2? ;)

I am not asking if to change one or two at once ;) as this is obvious. I am rather asking how often should these have been changed...

I have 173k on mine and I believe they are originals. And I'm only looking to change them because one or both are chirping.

I've always said cjange Tensioner ASSEMBLY & Idler Pulley(S) & Serpentine Belt on all Serp Belt Cars every 100K miles... now mind u I bought a 19 Year Old Car with only 75K miles on it & I'm positive that was original OEM Tensioner so TIME counts too IMO

I don't think I've ever heard a cam position sensor chirp before?

I don't think I've ever heard a cam position sensor chirp before?

Once upon a time I thought MY Pulleys were bad - After I renewed them all & STILL had a chirp I found out what the chirp really was - Which is why this needs to be in any "Pulley Thread" - There are MANY chirping Cam Synchronizer or Cam Position Sensor (when it finally throws a Code) Threads like this:

Camshaft Synchronizer -
