So my engine was idling rough and I decided to clean the IACV and MAF. I got carb cleaner and electrical parts cleaner and cleaned each part. Now, my explorer idles at 500RPM cold, and when I'm coasting down a hill in neutral the needle will actually hit zero, the battery will drain because the alternator can't support everything, and the car will stall.

Any ideas on what I should do now? Thanks.

Disconnect your battery for a few minutes to reset the computer or if you like, just drive it for a while (at least 45 min or so) and the computer will re-learn and adapt to the new inputs from the MAF and IAC

I did disconnect the battery cable when I did everything. Maybe it still needs to break in a little????

The relearning process takes some driving.

Good luck ...

It is possible that the IAC is not working properly, but it does take a few warm up cycles to remap everything. However usually the idle is one of the first things to settle in.

I killed an IAC once by cleaning it. It was probably on its last leg anyway. If it don't improve there is a new one in your future. Carb cleaner is strong stuff, it may have toasted it.
