Well I have a buyer for my car coming from Arizona this weekend and I just got a better job than the one I was previously at and I want to spend about 2000 on the truck. My question is what would you do to your truck with $2000?

It is not much but I can ot decide what I want. My 31's are brand new so I could get 33's and sell the 31's and recoupe alot of money. Then I can also get a locker and gears. Plus I am keeping the sub, amp, and capacitor out of my car so I plan on putting a stereo in the truck. That would put me real close to the 2000 mark maybe past it. I was thinking either either 285/75/16s on stock rims with 1.25 in. spacers or 33x12.50x15 on either steel $50 wheels or maybe break the budget a little and get aluminum wheels.

Just make sure you shop around still!! Saving ~$30-50 bucks or more per purchase will add up in the end, after spending as much as you are!

It's easy to say 'Oh I have plenty of cash, I'll just get it now at the store off the shelf, so I get it NOW' - but you'll be much happier with your purchases if you get good deals on them!

Post up whatever you decide on before you buy it, and we'll help you look for better prices/coupons that sort of thing.

Now - to the fun stuff:

A few basic upgrades that come to mind on my personal rig (some that you've also mentioned) are:

Powertrax No-Slip locker (~$500)
Roof Bars/Light Bar (~$70)
Lights for the lightbar (~$140-250)
Mean Airhorn (~$150 after all said and done)
Onboard Air (~$100)
Projected HID retrofit (~$350)
Dynomax Superturbo Muffler (~$130 if you search around and get good install price)

There's some for starters :)

Air operated lockers front and rear & I would have the aircompressor + airtank large enough to fill my tires also as I run on the sand alot. Then I would have to Install 300watt Spot lights & an electric winch. Then a high output alternator and dual battery system to run it all. That should leave me with about minus 800 bucks.

Yea v8 swap and if you have a v8 get a Turbo or supercharger lol

Save, and do something bigger. Like an SAS, or a dixon bros kit.

Great responses so far! If anyone has a link to the body bushings for our trucks please post it up as those are going to be the first thing I do. I would like to do an sas but i'm 2wd and i'm not sure that it would be worth the money to convert to 4wd. Or I could have an sas'ed 2wd =).

I also thought about going the performance route and getting the random technology stuff along with a cat back, intake, and bigger throttle body but i'm not sure if that is even worth it.

Body Bushings
SCT XCal 3 Tuner
Any suspension components that haven't been replaced/upgraded (PRIORITY 1, imo)
Rear locker!

Of course, you could always do a body lift and get 35x12.5x15s. :D

Mine came second hand (but new) from a guy who bought them from Tousley Ford. He sent me his original receipt with them as well. Totaled to $220 (his price:D).

Probably not worth it. Minimal performance gains but definitely a different sound if that's what you're going for.

Take your friends and family (parents) to nice dinner and save the rest of the cash. Anything else you put in the vehicle will depreciate in time.

id do a bodylift,buy a sawzall and then 35's

im 2wd, and if i ever converted to 4wd i would go sas. it seems like an easier conversion (though costly). that wont happen for a long time, like when i wear my current tranny out. we have a JK for when i need to get my sas on right now.

I'm not worried about that, I know I will never get back any money I put in to the truck but it is one of my hobbies. I'm selling the car for $6000 plus I have extra stuff that I already have buyers for, but $2000 is all I want to spend out of the money on the truck.

Gas.:(

I vote lockers 1st. It sounds like they really change the capabilities the most. If you did a body lift it'd be real easy to fit 35s under there! Those 2 things would make it a great truck to get around the dirt in. I'll also agree with offtrac in replacing suspension parts like the cv's and ball joints.

How about custom paint and interior? I put most of my money into maintenance. +1 on all above comments...BUT, If I had "extra" money. I would consider paint and new interior.

Well I still have not decided what I will do. The paint get alot of stratches from trails that I should not be on and the interior gets so filthy that it really wouldn't be a good option for me. If it was a street truck I would do that in a heart beat. Right now I think I will start with maintenace stuff like the body mounts and look over my suspension and see how everything looks. Then go from there.

4wd Swap biggest improvement, for around 500 bucks, then get yourself a locker, Thats what I did, everyone makes it sound hard when it really isnt, most difficult thing is pulling the trans and thats not hard to do. Just a suggestion haha.

Jurassic Park themed paint job 8)
