I have a '94 4 dr 4wd with an ignition switch problem. I have replaced the part on the steering column and the key switch still does not work. I did a shade tree fix with a wire from the relay to a switch inside the cab; wondering if anyone else has had the same situation.
There is some adjustment to the part on the steering column I guess, anyone have any ideas?
With my push button switch the car starts every time as long as I turn the key all the way.

So your key turns in the lock cylinder but doesn't actuate the ignition switch? Did you hook the linkage up right? Did you adjust the new ignition switch?

One way I did it, but it's not quite 100% perfect, is to rotate the key all the way forward like you're starting it then at the same time pull the ignition switch all the way rearward. Let go of the key while maintaining a grip on the ignition switch. Tighten the nuts on the ignition switch. That should be pretty darn close.

Probably better than the way I did it. I think I just installed the switch gadget, but it's been a while. Kind of a nuisance to have to pull the steering wheel and all, I have to psych up for all that hooey. Many thanks for the idea though.
Interesting that every once in a great while I forget and automatically turn the key and it works.

You don't have to pull the steering wheel, just remove the dash panel underneath and then get at the ignition switch on the side of the steering column. You MAY have to drop the steering column if you can't get a wrench or something on the nuts holding the switch in place. But that's not a big job either, 4 more bolts and it lowers down.

no auxiliary function ? pretty shure i have the ignition switch adjusted bought a new one but does same as old one works but dosnt have an AUX function turn key back should be in AUX ignition switch seems to be going back ???

done so from the left side underneath keep key cylinder in neutral position here are two nut posts with nuts remove the nuts pull the ignition switch up and to side to replace take note of the slider and the bar make sure its in the same or mid position .... reverse the order make sure slider is in same position put new switch in harness and mount on two nut studs on the column the bar is seems to be position already as the ignition switch naturally wants to drape across an fit the bar that is tweaked twards the switch ... f adjust for best key play forward and back of center key cylinder position tighten nuts further when adjusted ... my problem is there is no AUX function when i move the key cylinder back into what should be the AUX position .....usually bypasses the fuel pump and the other pre ignition draining battery and using lights like to listen to radio when vehicle is parked or use stuff without being distracted by red and yelllow start up lights ....what is my malfunction for not having an auxillary function on the key cylinder considering ignition switch adjustment ?????
