My domelight will not illuminate upon entering the vehicle.

But, If I turn the headlamp knob to manually turn on the dome light on, they come on like normal. When I have the headlamps on, and the door open, it will chime like normal. If I press the door jamb button, like the door is shut, the chiming stops. So I know the switch is good.

Is there a relay somewhere in that circuit? People talk about a GEM. What does it look like? Will my nearly option-less `92 have one? Keep in mind I have no power mirrors, windows or locks....I had to swap in the Power Seats.

I have tested all the fuses, all are good.

All door jamb buttons have free motion.

I tried the WD-40 in the hatch switch.....no luck. Even if it was just ONE of switches that went bad, my lights would STAY ON, not stay off.

I need to get this fixed ASAP.

Tough question. I have a 93 Limited which blew a fuse sometime after I removed the hood(cut hood wires). The fuse powers my interior lights(three), left seat, the door unlocks(not locks).

I was trying to set my left seat at its #2 memory location, prior to removing it. When I discovered it wouldn't move, i went to looking at the fuses. It was a 15 amp fuse, farthest forward, to the inside, perpendicular to the centerline of the truck.

Check your fuses once more. Hopefully that's it, or someone else has another idea. Good luck,

it IS acting like a bad fuse.....but it's not.

Anyone else have any insight as to why it would be acting this way?

Anyone know where ELSE to look?

okay, new problem.....

It no longer chimes when I have JUST the headlamps on, and the door is open. I have to have the knob turned so the interior lights are on (manually turned on) THEN and only then does the 'headlight' chime work.

So I have verified AGAIN that the interior lights work.
The Lights DO come on when manually turned on.
The Door Pin/Switch DOES work.

What could it be?
