Hello, my name is Dwight. I have a 94 Explorer Limited and found this site. This is great site and what few posts I have made and gotten responses has been very cordial...good manners never go out of style and I appreciate all the help.

I will be rebuilding my engine or replacing with a used one soon in my Explorer. My other project is an "Iron Pig" or a 1978 FJ-40 that I bought new. I have restored the entire drive train and suspension and recovered the seats. My next project is to rebuild the big heavy inline 6, that I am going to do by myself this spring...well I am going to pull the 2F engine and dismantle it and have it tanked and checked out at a machine shop...but I plan on doing as much work on the engine myself as possible...it will be my first engine to rebuild. I have changed out 2 engines on Honda's years ago ...but I have never rebuilt one. I look foreword to getting to know more of you and learning much more about my 94 Explorer on here....I have already learned a lot from spending hours reading posts and sticky threads.

Sincerely
Dwight Pilkilton

welcome to the site and it sounds like youve got quite a project there, post up some pics of it too if you have any

Welcome. You will find this place to be a home.

Thanks

I used Skyjackers on FJ-40, I got the soft ride ones due to the hard ride of the wheel base that you can reach to the ends with your hands stretched out....man that thing has a short frame.

I like your 94....looks great.

Now to find me a low milage engine for my 94, I understand that any 4.0 up to 2000 will work......I dont want to change it twice if I can help it

Welcome. When you get that engine back from machine shop I would wash it all out with lots of soap and water. An air comp. is nice to blow out all the passages like oil holes in crank. This procedure will get rid of all the machining particals that could work its way into the bearings during start up. Also I like to use a cleaning tap on all head bolt holes in block to get a good reading. A good ring expander is also nice. While talking about rings, push one down the bore with piston and make sure end gap is right. I can not over emphasize how important it is to keep a clean work area when putting it together. You don't want to start putting the assembly lube on bearings just to have your fingers get grit on them and then coat some more lube with grit in it on the crank journals. Good Luck
