Howdy. Name's Patrick, I've got (am being assigned) a 2010 Explorer special service vehicle that's being outfitted as a K-9 Truck. Looking for an ignition wiring diagram, so I can hook up the kussmaul thingy to leave the A/C or heat running for the dog without the keys in the ignition.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed, and moved your thread to the stock 2006+ section. A direct fused connection to the battery will provide a constant +12V source. Splicing wiring in a brand new 2010 will void the warranty if there is a problem related to anything spliced.

OK, I appreciate the move and rename, but the issue remains... I need an ignition wiring schematic. Kussmaul makes a device that keeps the ignition relays open until the brake pedal is depressed, so you can remove the keys and have the vehicle continue running. I'm trying to find out where the ignition relays are so I know where to install the bypasses in the wiring harness.

I assume your a LEO right? If so just have the dept go thru their vendors to install it. Those kits are not meant to be installed by non-qualified professionals

...X2...

...Welcome here...:salute:

..Where are you from and where are you located???..

If you have a dept dog in the unit and something should go wrong with your install you and your dept could be held liable. If it is a service unit your bring assigned then your dept should be paying a profesional to do the install. I assume they are putting markings and a lighting system on it so they must have some type of wiring diagram that can be used. It also sounds like it would almost be like a autostart system and contacting the manufature of that system would probably be able to fax you over the schematic to install it correctly. Be safe.

Here is what mine says.

USE A DMM TO TEST THESE WIRES. OR GET A PROFESSIONAL WHO KNOWS HOW TO WIRE VEHICLES TO DO THIS FOR YOU.

Like stated above if you are having the entire vehicle outfitted they can do this for you. There are shops that specialize in outfitting cop cars.

Yep. LEO in North East Ohio. I'm actually going to have the shop that's installing the radios & lights do it, but talked to the tech last week and he's never done one of these before. So I thought I'd try to make it easier for him with the diagrams.

Ended up getting a bud of mine who's a Chevy mechanic at a dealership get the schematics from one of HIS buds at a Ford dealership. Problem solved, hopefully.... Thanks for the advice, all.
