Re: Im stalling

The tk has 42900 miles on it and no it does not stall at certain speeds. When it happened the oil gauge went to zero (L), all the lights came on in the dash like it would do when you first turn the ignition switch to the "on" position. I put the vehicle in Nuetral while coasting down the road (I had no where to pull off at the time) and restarted it. There was nothing noticablly wrong at that time, it was driving great and I had no Idiot lights on (service engine soon...ect) This was the first time it has ever stalled on me, I just dont want it to stall on my wife and 2 year old while crossing trough an intersection. To me this is a serous problem. Thank you for any input you might have.....

As far as searching goes I assume we are talking about the "Google custom search"?

he's refering to the search button for the message forum.

Scroll up and see the button that says "Search" :D

I went to the link and I was driving down a stright road, there were a few small bumps but nothing out of the norm. It just shut off no poping, no lopeing, or bucking or kicking, I only realized that it had stoped running when I hit the gas and nothing happened. It was driving fine prior too, with no indicator light to show a problem. Im going to take it to the Dealership to run some checks on it.

Yep those are same exact symptoms I had and we had no indication it had stalled except for the noise to check the gauges.

was your cruise control on at the time it stalled?

Thanks daprez1963

Well it looks like I am able to duplicate the problem! It appears that the cruise control was on. After playing with it some, when turning the cruise on and then pressing and holding the decel button on the steering wheel from 45 mph when it hit 33 mph the truck shut down. What do you think of that? Thanks to daprez1963 for helping me pen point the issue.

glad i could help...it happened to us...that is why i thought it might be that.

i have no ideas why it was designed to do that. but at least we now know.

happy truckin....;)

Daprez you sound like my dad, oh it's supposed to shut off while you are going down the road so you get your ass run over or have a wreck.
happy truckin!!!

So you honestly think that the truck is supposed to turn it self off when using the cruise control below a certain speed or pressing the decel button? There is no reason that an engine should off in any situation like that. There is something obivously wrong with it. I guess the link I posted and the link ISU LARRY posted were to much to read and consider that either of them might contain the real problem. For the record it has only happen once to me and it did involve the cruise control and going below 35mph but I can guarantee you this is not normal and it is not designed that way.

I might sound like your dad when I say that "Stay in school or you will not amount to anything"...

Not once did I say that it is SUPPOSE to do it. I said that for some reason, it happens. Dig your head out and comprehend what is posted before you open your pie hole. I agree that something is wrong...never said there wasn't. I would like to know why it does, but I was just pointing out to the OP that the cause might be from the use of the CC.

Instead of Happy truckin to you, I have another phrase...MOVE ALONG LIL DOGGIE:salute:

i have no ideas why it was designed to do that. but at least we now know.

That statement was to acknowledge that the problem lies somewhere with the CC. As I said...I have NO IDEA why it happens....maybe poor design, maybe a faulty system. For some reason, it happens to several people. Falling short of going to the dealership and asking them (only to get a NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE), I just am aware of the possible situation with the CC at low speeds. I was just mentioning the possibility that the CC could have something to do with it....Now we know.:salute:

Its Fixed!

Ok guys, I took the TRK to the dealer and they reflashed my PCM with some new codes. The problem was fixed! I know longer have the shutting of problem. I told them when I took it that they might have to reflash the PCM and sarcasticly he said "Well look in to it". Well they called and said they could not duplicate the problem so they did nothing. I picked it up got a quater mile down the road, it did it again. I took it back...long story short the embarassed:confused: "mechanic" told me they ended up reflashing the PCM with some new codes. They really should listen to the customer sometimes.

Thanks for the help every one!

For the record it was Daprez that helped me find the info I needed to get my truck fixed, although I do appreciate your help there is no reason to talk to anyone like they are beneth you. I also did read your comments suggestions and went to all your links as well. If those would have been the problem I guess we might have spoke more about them. The REAL problem was the crusie control. At 33 mph the truck shut off every time using the CC. So just chill out when replying to others you cant be right all the time.

Thanks again every one for your help!

Your welcome again...and thanks for sticking up for me. We all offer our IMHO and helpful hints here. We (most of us) are not experts but just offer insights and possible solutions. We don't need to be attacked by posters like jsbaker for whatever reason he felt to attack. Thanks for telling us what you did to correct this, as I have not done anything to mine yet. I will ask for the same thing when I have time. I just have refrained from using the CC in town. Otherwise, I love my truck and as always...Happy Truckin' ;)
