Just bought my Explorer last week (2nd one we have had) and now I am stranded! Drove to town, parked up - no problems. Came back to car and got no response when I used the remote central locking fob. Went and got new battery put in that - still nothing. Key unlocks door but then alarm goes off, lights flash etc. Tried disconnecting battery for a while but has made no difference. So now my lovely car is sitting in town (11 miles away) and I had to call my family to give me a lift home :( Is there a sequence to follow to disarm this? Any help appreciated.
Thanks

I can't say my problem was exactly the same, but I stopped at a friends house, went inside, came back out and it wouldn't start. Eventually what would happen was the theft light on the dash would flash and no response at all from the ignition. I did at one point get the engine started by disconnecting the battery for a while, and then starting it. After a couple hours of trouble shooting, I ended up changing my fuel filter and doing some other work while it was dead. Long story short, I had to have it towed into the dealer and my PCM died and there were no signals going between the PCM and alarm unit, which caused the alarm to go into default mode. Good side of the story is that it was all covered under an extended warranty (because the PCM controls some emissions functions, it has a 10 yr. warranty). My battery was never dead though, I could still use all of the radio functions and all the lights worked. Though I don't like going to the dealer for anything, that was one time I'm glad I did.
