Im also hoping to make my explorer better, exaust sytle. I was looking at the 40 Series FlowMaster. I hear they are pretty load and help with torque.

thanks for the help

depends on how loud you want to go. Extremely loud- go with Flowmaster one-chambers, less louder and agressive go with the 40 series.

Magnaflow are excellent also, they are loud on V8's but have never heard them on a 6, maybe Alec will see this and chime in, he runs Magnaflow on his modded Sport.

The others like Borla and Dynomax, Gibson, are quieter then flows or magnalfow, and IMO don't sound as nice on a V6. I heard the others on V6's and just don't like the sound, one of them was a friend with a sport running Borla and it sounded a little buzzy another ran dynomax ultraflows and it sounded just ok. But it's your choice........

Flowmaster is the only way to go if you want LOUD;)

Assuming you have a OHV 4.0 I'd stick on a 40 series flowmaster and call it good. I went the the force to cat-back which has a 50 series muffler and 2.25" pipes over the stock 2". I feel like I lost torque with the 2.25" and the 50 series wasn't loud enough for me. I now run a 40 series on the 2.25" pipes. If you are looking for more top end power get a custom 2.25" with a 40 series flowmaster at a shop.

A friend of mine had a 93 Sport, and he put a Dynomax Super Turbo on there and it sounded a little buzzy, dare I say "ricey".

On the other hand, I have a 94 Sport (same engine) and I just got a Magnaflow with 2.25" pipe and it sounds a lot better. I also have a KKM (which he didn't have), and the KKM will make your exhaust sound a little different (lower, rumbly-er), too.

The Flowmaster website states that, "Delta Flow® technology provides superior scavenging of exhaust gases even over a comparable (standard) Flowmaster muffler. This results in increased horsepower, torque and fuel economy".Dead Link Removed
But DeltaFlow also reduces both interior and exterior resonance...the DeltaFlow has increased torque and HP than the standard, non-Delta muffler, which has a more powerful int. & ext. sound. My question is, how much quieter is the DeltaFlow? Would it be worth sacrificing the sound of 40's for slightly more performance from the Deltas? Is it just a DeltaFlop? I want my cake, AND to eat it, too! Feed back appreciated. :exporange

My friend has dual 40 deltas on his 5.0 Mustang. It is loud at idle and accelleration, but at a constant speed it it almost unnoticable. So I don't think you'll be sacrificing a lot of sound for performance. Unless, of course, you like the drone of a loud exhaust on the highway.

My suggestions:
