I just replaced the break pads, and had the rotors turned about 8,000 miles ago, and I tow a boat, and it sucks, the rotors warped already, is there any aftermarket brakes, such as power slot, or ebc, or something thats better then the stock ones, and does anyone know why the rotors warped already??

Explorer rotors are fairly thin and often it's better to replace them than mill them. My guess is they were too thin to handle the stress after being turned.

As for better ones, there are a few makers of cold treated and slotted rotors; their link should be on the resources page and they may be available through truckperformance.com I think there are also some pricey upgrade kits if you have larger rims to fit them.

My stock brakes however are fine even with 33s and towing a heavy load. I'm consistently impressed with their capacity.

I was looking at explorerexpress, and they say that the powerslot rotors do not fit the AWD, and on truckperformance.com, they sell the rotors for a 4wd, not for a AWD, whats the difference??

oh, and what kinda pads do you think i should use, I used EBC, green stuff pads on my solo 2 crx with cross drilled and slotted rotors, if I get power slots, should I run the power slot pads, and Im not sure if Im gunna replace the rear pads and rotors, I dont think they are warped..

ART (http://www.appliedrotortechnology.com/) is the brand of rotors I use on our X.

Until I switched to these, I was going through rotors every 10k miles.

I now have over 100k miles on these rotors.

I will replace them (rotors) in the next 30k miles as I had a brake bad (rivited style) seperate from the backing plate about 20k miles ago and it gouged the rotor pretty good.

Just don't let your pads wear down to destroy the rotor (change them on your terms, not the trucks)

BTW, I use 'performance friction' pads (came with the rotors)

ok, so heres the deal, i was working this out

Powerslot (normal rotors with slots) 89.99 and then powerslot pads, 31.00= 211.97

Powerslot prostop (with the slots and dimples) 93.99 and the powerslot pads 31.99=219.97

ART rotors and pads, =300.00
(I have never heard of these before today though, I have heard of powerslot)

what would you all do??

I personally haven't used the powerslot rotors...

I went with the ART beucase they are cryo treated not becuase they were slotted. I've heard of that being done to other items and it worked there so I tried the ART rotors (I think Rick has a set also)..

I let other people talk about the powerslots
