I saw that in the white face install, you had to take the black factory stuff off. If I don't like the look, I'll want to put the black back in. Do I have to remove it for the indiglo guages. Also I saw 2 styles on ebay. One was black except for the speedo and everything and looked really cool. It's sold by procarparts, but the tach redline was off (probably made for a ranger) and the holes on the bottom for the 4x4 light/ antitheft light, abs light were different than the other ones I looked at. The other ones I looked at were exact original guages but in white. The whole thing lit up green or blue, you can switch them. Will the procarparts one fit? Thanks

I just got from them a set for my 95. The install went OK. On mine I did not have to remove the original faces. They also say in the instructions you don't have to remove the needles. Well, I had to on the speedo and tach. The holes in the glow gauges were just to small to fit over the round part of the needles. I really hated to do it that way but had no choice. I just made sure I had the needles at a point where they had stopped moving, marked their location, removed them, placed glows on panel and reinstalled needles. I was able to install the other 2 gauges without removing the needles. I will take some pics and post them in the next day or so.

beavis195 - Can you please post pics of the install because I am going to get those gauges in the near future and I would love to have some kind of picture reference of how to install them.

I like the look of reverse indiglo's...they look really nice

I'd love to. Baseball season's coming up so I had to quit my job. Money is going to be hard to come by. When I do get the money though, it's the first thing on my list

Indiglo gauges for 1998 explorer

Well I just bought some white face indiglo gauges (blue and Green) from a guy on ebay. Actually i bought them at the end of december but I just put them in yesterday. A few thing about that. I got these gauges from some guy who had them I dont know why he was selling but everything works which is always nice. I was just looking on ebay lastnight and say that some other company is selling a bunch of them. I got mine for $80. You might be able to find the for a few bucks less. That is a good price b/c if you look at performance products they sell just white face gauges that are the same gauges less the indiglo for $112. Now as far as the install goes, I got directions w/ the gauges and there was a webstie to go to. The paper directions were nothing short of horrible but the website is ok (www.seas.ucla.edu/~cheston/IndigloGauge/indigloinstall.html). Before you start make sure you got what you need and know exactly what you have to do. I had never taken that part of my ex part before and you need to undo several pannels all around it. I didnt have to remove the needles, just the little rest pegs for the tach and temp I think. You are going to need a socket wrench 7 and 8 mm I think are the two I needed. A screwdrive that has a tip like a 6 point star, scotch tape ( use a little to tape down the gauges once you line them up with all the lights on the dash) and patience. I put the ground for all of under a screw on the steel plate under the bottom panel where the hood realease is in the top left corner. All the wires and the box fit in behind the head light and dimmer wires. I then ran the switch fo the blue/green and brightness over to come put just underneath the steering column. Perfect fit there and I used some 3M heavy duty sticky stuff to keep it there b/c I didnt want to drill there. Not just yet anyway. oh and I put the postive end right into the fuse box with fuse number 8 I believe, it was for the right headlight so when the headlights come on so does the indiglo. It was a bit frustrating at times with all the screws and just trying to figure out what has to come out which includes the radio and it is helpful to put the truck into first gear sometimes to reach things better. In the end it looks pretty sweet day and night. now I am just waiting for summer and some more money to put on a lift and dual exhaust. I will post some pics probably later today or tomorrow.

I bought soem on the 14th from eBay and I am still waiting to get them. I think they were 59.95 in a dutch auction. Whe I get them I will take pictures and let y'all know how it goes on a 92. Taking pictures will slow me down and make me take my time (which is a good thing) :D

ooooo please post pics asap cuz i really wanna see how the early year X's are gonna look w/ these

cmon so no one has installed these gauges yet? ahh!!

I installed mine yesterday, but I am not totally happy with the install. I am going to get some double sided tape (thin, not like 3M mounting tape) to hold them to the guages. They don't lay flat on the speedo, and the gaps between the 4 different pieces were hard enough to get straight, let alone all the same. They were fairly easy to install. Getting all the wires to come out one spot was the only engineering marvel. They could have designed where the electrical connections were a little bettr so that the wires were easier to run. If you want to see them at night, go look on eBay. I am not going to plug them in until I get them stuck down.:p

hmmmmmm i must say i was a little dissapointed but i still like em...i dont understand what the 3 boxes under the tach are for but hm maybe ill still get them...maybe

Can you post pics of them when you plug them in?

The 3 boxes are for idiot lights...one of them is the seatbelt light, and the other 2 I can't remember...probably low oil and check engine.

I won't get them hooked up for weeks. Hopefully I will get my J**p out of the shop tomorrow and put the X in for the lifts. I will try and get them stuck down tonight. If you notice the oil pressure guage is still in the middle. If they lift up at all, they interfere with the needles.

If you want to see them lit up check out :

I am sure they will look much like that in the truck.
