I suspect this would have to be a custom aftermarket design, AFAIK the Ford keys with integrated remote are not compatible. *I could be wrong*, I'd search ebay for a seller claiming it is compatible with 2nd gen and that offers a refund if not.
Ditto, I thought this thread was a discovery, maybe it can be done.
I don't keep my key fobs with the matching keys, I place them on different key rings. If you lock your keys in the car, the fob is in there with it. Mine is in my other pocket. Guess how I learned that trick about 15 years ago, and it's never happened since. I do wish the key fob would operate the door locks when the engine is running though. What do you do if you accidentally lock the doors of your running car?
^ Will the door keypad unlock it with the engine running? I don't recall ever trying that, but door keypad is my plan for keys locked in otherwise. As far as keeping the fob separate, I just keep another key separate... I mean at home since I have the door keypad, otherwise I'd get one of those hide-a-key things.
