Has anyone installed an info center to an X-plr which didn't have one before? I haven't called Ford yet to get a quote, but I'm pretty sure they'll want an arm-and-leg. Right now I have the two velvet-type openings instead of the always useful info center. Any input would greatly be appreciated.

Also... would junk yards have it for a '97?

Try a search on a member named quick. he has installed an overhead on his 1992. he found it at a junkyard from a newer explorer.

I'd also like to welcome you to the site. You'll find anything and everything all right here.

I guess I forgot to mention one thing... It's the info center on the bottom. The one that gives the gas, mileage, etc. Sorry about that.

I have talked to a guy that did this but he said it was a lot of work and he had to splice all the wires and stuff. He also said if you want you will have to add a thing in the washer fluid resivour to check the level of the fluid. Might be same story for the coolant. The computer from ford was $179 and the black plastic used to mount it in was $99. i have not seen any locally, but I have seen a few on ebay.

95XLT, Thanks... I'll talk to Ford and see what they say. I have patience, so splicing might not be that bad.

If you get it to work please inform me! I have a schematic someone sent me of the wiring before. I will try to find it if ford can't give you a clearer copy.
