Hi
I have a 1986 Ranger, 2.9L, 5sp, 2wd, extended cab, 396K Km rust and burns oil.
1992 Aerostar, 4.0L, AWD, XLT, 250K Km
The Aerostar was given to us because the owner thought the tranny was dead. We took it to our mechanic, he did a brake stand in revers and forward and said no problem. We had him change the filter and do a flush. The RABS light comes on, and check engine light comes on.
What I want to know is what ford vehicles have the same electrical systems as the 4.0L Aerostar electronic AWD A4LD?

Welcome to this forum! The A4LD is in a lot of Ford RWD vehicles until 94 (Aerostar until 95), which was the last year they were manufactured. The C3 was the original transmission in the Pinto. The 4R44E/55E was the newer electronic version on 95-96, then 5R44E/55E from 97-01. The 5R55W was on 2002. Later designs were the 5R55N/S/W. Some parts of the electrical system are the same in many Ford vehicles such as sensors, harness connectors, etc. Your 92 uses an EEC-IV computer system. You have to read the codes to know why the check engine light is on.

Welcome to the site! :D
