injector o ring installation

I replaced the upper intake gaskets on my 4.0, its out of a 92 explorer so no egr valve. question is there a specific way to put the injector orings in without tearing them all to hell? im on my 2nd set of orings and 5th time taking this thing apart in 2 days. Ive tried putting them on the injectors themselves, putting them in the fuel rail, tightening them down with the bolts and pushing the rail on by hand, each time I get it back together I have a leaking injector with a ripped oring so I have to take it back apart, its getting really frustrating, if anyone can shed some light on this id like to get my rig back on the road.

Install them on the injector first and make sure you put a light coat of oil on them before installing them. Also use a side to side motion when pushing them into the rail.

Thanks man i figured it needed lube, ill get a new set of orings and try again. Lame bk im usually pretty good at this kind of stuff

Use non petrolium oil. I use cooking oil like canola oil.

Also make sure that were they go into the intake and fuel rail is clean and free of any burs.

yeah i looked it over and its pretty crappy looking, all knicked up and stuff, i ran some 200 grit sandpaper in the holes and cleaned it up pretty good. ill go run it through the parts washer and should be good to go for another try

Well installed them with vegetable oil, drove it a few miles to my old mans house, no leaks, but when i started it to leave bam another leaking injector, just spraying gasoline everywhere. So now its sitting at my old mans house useless yet again. So tomorrow ill go give it another go, i think im going to install the injectors into the rail before installing them into the engine, that way i can see them go in, and a failure in the lower oring will be far less catastrophic than the upper ones. If anyone has any further input it would be much appreciated

it appears to be fixed, I installed the injectors into the fuel rail first and then installed the rail and injectors as an assembly into the intake manifold using vaseline to lube the orings. went out and wheeled it for 1/2 hr or so and drove home, no leaks yet. im cautiously optimistic that it worked this time.

try using a nice dip in gasoline it initially will act as a lube but dry leaving the rubber tacky (( quoteing scotty Kilmer ))

im running some techron fuel system cleaner its working great where other products fail seafoam b-12 laquer thinner cheap injector cleaners had no effect but this product is working
20 percent kick

im lookin to do this job currently so im looking for the tutorial nothing on youtube specific as of yet most trucks the rail easily comes out but here it looks like i have to deal with the phlenum wouldnt mine a post regarding the
