I am in the process of replacing a couple of fuel injectors in my 4.0 V6 OHV engine. I have the fuel rail off but the injectors stayed in the lower intake and don't seem to want to come out. Is there anything special I need to do or just keep wiggling and pulling? I am worried about getting crud in the holes once they are off. What is the best way to remove the crap around the injectors before removal? Vacuum cleaner??

use a old toothbrush and a air hose and blow the crap off.

as far as the injectors i believe i read a little while ago they just pull out, but do not quote me on that. might be able to find some quick info in the search.

I used a vac with a crevice tool because of the sheer volume of crap, then took the air hose to it

I recommend compressed air...

I would use an air line and air gun from a compressor to remove any built-up crap around the injectors BEFORE removing them from the lower intake...Remember that the injector hole go straight into the lower manifold tract and that crap will fall into the engine...

And since the fuel rail is off, removing the injectors should be a matter of using a bit of force to side-load the injector then pull and rotate it until it is free...The lower o-ring keeps it in place and over time that oring gets hard and it resists pulling out of the lower intake easily...

DId all that with air and am having a real problem pulling a couple out. A little wd40 seems to have helped on a couple, but still have 2 stuck and immovable. Is there a tool to help pry them out?

Try small slide hammer, modify if needed to grip part. imp
