Unfortunatly I have not gotten the tensioner fixed when I did the upper and lower intake gaskets and i'm afraid I have done some serious damage. I'm going to get it fixed soon but looking at onther option as well. I am thinking of finding a used 4.0 SOHC and building a replacement motor with a little more umph. What options do I have when finding parts/pieces for the 4.0 to add some more power if I end up having to go this route. I know I will hear a lot of people saying to go 5.0 but I don't want to do that much work, would like to have a pretty much plug/play pull old put new if I have to go this route. Any input is appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying there, but if you have a 4.0 OHV, and you want to go to a 4.0 SOHC, you will still have a lot of wiring to do. In my opinion, just about the same as you would going to a 5.0. You'll basically have to get the engine and wiring harness from the SOHC donor vehicle. That's exactly what you would do if you were swapping a 5.0 in.

So in short, either swap is still lots of work and time.

I have the SOHC in my 98 sport. Just looking to replace motor for motor, but do some work on the new motor to increase HP.
