I have a '94 Eddie Bauer. I would like to remove the door panels to install speakers, but can't quite figure out how to do it. Any suggestions?

csthews,
from what i understand, if you follow the edge of the door panel around the edges, there are "buttons" that are holding it on. Use a screw driver and gently pry it open. This should get you into it. I would be more certain, but i decided to wait before buying my speakers until my next check... so if you care to wait 2 weeks Ill let you know for sure. :)

Just like bryan said you go around the edge of the door with a tool (I recommend getting a panel removal tool, they're about five bucks) and pop the door panel off. There are quite a few fasteners, and it is a good idea to replace them when you put the panel back on so it will be tight again. Also along the window (top) side of the door panel you have to lift it straight up to take it off. There are no fasteners up there, it just kinda sits in a crevice.

There are also three screws in the front panels, and 2 in the rears. Do a search for " door panel removal" there is a very detailed thread here on the subject.

if you dont have power windows you will first have to pop the cover off the window crank and use a torx bit to remove the assembly.

a panel fastener removal tool will make the job much, much easier.

i just changed my front speakers for the first time today after finding this thread on google. it took me 20 minutes to change them both out. i just used a butter knife, a screw driver, and a pair of scissors. 30 bucks for two 5x7 mtx speakers from google shopping. now i just need the back speakers and a small sub

just use the butter knife to pry the panel outward and then lift the panel up off the groove. im not sure what that panel removal tool is but a butter knife worked fine

i say "just" too much

I have not seen the panels on an '07. Would I go about it differently to remove the panels on a '00? I want to do an interior re-color.
