I installed a used A4LD tranny that was out of a totalled explorer in my 94 explorer. I filled it up with tranny fluid (might be a tad high), and all my gears are forward. No reverse or neutral. I checked the gear lever position compared to the arm on the tranny and they are very closely lined up when disconnected. I also do not have any reverse lights. What would cause that and the no reverse problem?

Enlighten me with to this Z-link is and where it is. Thanks!

I just happened to stumble across the same thread. Looks like the pan is coming off. Thanks man!

The no reverse lights suggests that either the switch is bad, or that the internal lever that is bolted onto the shifter input is disconnected (the main one, NOT the Z link), or you have some other electrical problem. That is independent of the Z link - in fact the Z link connects to it and then the manual valve.
