I am trying to connect my amp to the battery of my ford explorer. I wanted to know if there is another way to run the power cable to the battery rather than drilling through the firewall. The only hole i see is the one where my antenna is connected to but that doesn't connect into where the motor is. Any help would be much appreciated.

I asked this yesterday, run it from the battery, under the body and up through the floor at the back where yr wiring comes up, there's a bung under the seats

isn't that improper though? i thought it was really dangerous to run cable underneath the car.

Yes that is extremely unsafe. The only way you should run it under the body is if you sheild the cable somehow so that a stone won't tear through the jacket. If you don't have an existing hole in the firewall just drill a hole making sure that there is nothing in that way. Then use a firewall bushing to run the cable through so that the cable jacket won't get damaged from the edge of the hole. Here's a link for a bushing. http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?WebPage_ID=3

In mine, there was a grommet just behind the brake pedal that you could move to the side with a screw driver or something similar and feed the power cable through. The grommet came out underneath the brake pump/booster/whatever on the other side.

Why do you not want to just drill a hole?

I slid mine through the same grommet as the hood release cable. Very simple and out of the way.

X2, and you'll have enough room for at least two runs of 1/0 wire. :)
